Town Government Overview
The Town of Fairfax is governed by the Council-Manager form of government.
The five Town Council Members are elected at large. The Town Council hires a Town Manager to carry out their policies and manage the Town organization on a daily basis. The Council’s actions are guided by a vision statement which they adopted in May of 2009.
Proposals for action are brought to the Council by residents, staff and the Town Council Members themselves. At the Town Council meetings, residents and staff may give input or report on agenda items. The Council then discusses and either approves, modifies or rejects them. The Town Manager and the staff then carry out the Council’s decisions.
